Diet Tips for Better Nails

If you want to have beautiful nails, you don’t need to buy expensive cosmetics. All you need is a bit of care of your nails, and you’ll have the prettiest nails automatically. Here are some tips to have better nails.

Your nails are made up of protein, so if you are taking a low protein diet, your nails will get brittle and thin. Also, the rate of growth of your nails will be slow. Nails are made from keratin, which is a fibrous protein. How to know if you have enough protein in your diet? Check the area on your nails near the cuticle. If you don’t see ‘half moons,’ you aren’t taking enough protein.

But don’t worry, protein if found in abundance in many foods. You can get all the protein you need from eggs. But in case you are a vegetarian, you can get protein from butter and nuts.

Vitamin C

If you don’t have vitamin C in your diet, you’ll have ingrown toenails. Vitamin C is needed by your body to absorb the nutrients that you are taking. So if you don’t have enough vitamin C, other nutrients will not show many positive effects.

You can find a lot of vitamin C in berries and citrus fruits. Gooseberries are an especially good source of vitamin C.

Vitamin E

When you have healthy and glowing nails, you might want to skip applying nail polish. The simplest solution for getting healthy and glossy nails is to have enough vitamin E in your diet. This vitamin delivers oxygen to nail beds which boosts their growth and provides them a smooth glow.

If you haven’t been taking enough iron from a long time in your diet, your nails will become dry and brittle. Plus they will lose shape and crack out really soon. This is probably the most common deficiency in teenage girls, and their nails are sometimes flat or totally upturned. If you are facing this problem too, it is iron that your nails want.
